Season opens Oct. 9 at home against Ducks �" and Sid the Kid returning to San Jose

Here�^TMs what we just learned about the Sharks schedule for 2008-09.

San Jose opens the season at home against Anaheim on Thursday, Oct. 9.

And the three Eastern Conference teams that the Sharks will face twice are Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Philadelphia.

Not really much to complain about so far, eh?

First, why not get started at home against a top division foe? Good measuring stick right from the get-go.

And, me, I�^TMm all for two games against Sidney Crosby and company, the reconstituted Lightning with always quotable Barry Melrose behind the bench (and the more reserved Matt Carle on the ice), plus a Flyers team that made it to the Eastern Conference finals.

********And to all those asking, nope, nothing new to report on Ryane Clowe�^TMs situation, though I have tried reaching him again.
